Profhilo®

As time passes, the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Over time, fine and deeper lines and wrinkles can appear as well as uneven skin tone due to sun damage and other environmental and lifestyle factors.

We also lose bone and tissue mass in the facial area, leading to sagging cheeks, jowls and hollow areas such as around the eyes and at the temples. At Sean White Aesthetics, here in Herne Hill, near Dulwich Village, we offer a range of anti-ageing injectable treatments and not just traditional dermal fillers and Botox. We aim to provide the most state-of-the-art and innovative treatments on the market and have recently introduced Profhilo® to our armoury of skin boosting injectable treatments as a proven and safe way to replenish and rejuvenate the skin.

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is a hyaluronic acid (HA), injectable skin remodelling treatment which can assist in the rejuvenation of the skin’s architecture in a course of 2 treatment sessions. Profhilo® offers the highest grade HA and is injected into 5 points in the area of concern to produce overall improvement to the facial area. Otherwise referred to as ‘liquid skincare’ Profhilo® stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin, vital substances in youthful, plump and resilient skin. The stimulation of these substances, as well as the application of 2 types of HA, results in significant improvement in skin quality, texture and appearance.

Profhilo® can be used on the face, neck, hands, elbows, knees and décolletage

Profhilo® is not a traditional dermal filler as it is more liquid and does not contain BDDE or any cross-linking agents, but consists of a new hyaluronic acid gel. It can be used as a very successful stand-alone treatment or can complement other aesthetic treatments such as Botox and fillers.

Am I suitable for a treatment with Profhilo®?

If you are experiencing early or advanced stages of skin ageing, Profhilo® should benefit you. However, at Sean White Aesthetics, we will ask you to attend a no obligation consultation so that we can assess your expectations as well as check your medical history to ensure you are fit and well and will benefit from the treatment.

Does a Profhilo® treatment hurt?

A topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin before the Profhilo® injections, so as to minimise any discomfort. If you are particularly sensitive or nervous, we may offer you an injectable anaesthetic but this is not usually necessary as Profhilo® injections are fairly superficial in their application.

What results can I expect?

After one course of Profhilo®, consisting of 2 sessions, a month apart, expect to see more hydrated, glowing, plump and luminous skin. Fine lines can be significantly reduced and in many cases, even disappear. Your skin can appear smoother and tighter with a healthy, luminous glow. In cases where more skin repair is required such as more advanced ageing conditions, you may be advised to have a course of 3 treatments, with results lasting up to 6 months after the initial course.

Is there any downtime with Profhilo®?

Following treatment with Profhilo® you might find that you see some localized small bumps at the injection sites. These lumps will subside within around 24 hours after your treatment and it is very normal for this to occur. Occasionally these bumps take two or three days to fully subside as the Profhilo® spreads through the skin like honey. You may also experience a little swelling and slight bruising due to the fact that this is an injectable treatment, causing a trauma to the skin. These reactions are temporary and nothing out of the ordinary. None of the downtime is ‘medical’ with Profhilo® and won’t hinder your every-day life, so you can return to your normal daily activities immediately after your treatment.

How long will my results last after my Profhilo® treatment?

You should experience more hydrated, luminous and firmer skin for up to 6 months following your initial treatment with Profhilo®. However, depending on your lifestyle choices and the way in which you look after your skin as well as your health, results may vary. Factors such as sun-exposure, smoking, not getting enough sleep, stress and excessive alcohol consumption can all hinder the skin’s appearance and general health. Therefore, it’s important to see a treatment with Profhilo® as a factor of a good skin regime and healthy lifestyle, for maximum benefit.
